Relinquished luxury
Siddhartha decided to give up the royal livelihood and went out to seek the truth of the universe. On a full-moon night when He was 29 (some say nineteen), the royal prince, accompanied by a horse attendant, rode on a fine white horse whose legs were then lifted by Buddhas of multiple heavens, flew over the royal residence. Siddhartha thus began His monastic life and practice. Notes: 3Brahmana - (Sanskrit) the highest caste in India |
