The emphasis of the Root Patron Buddha Great Sage Sakyamuni's "great show of deliverance of sentient beings" is to illustrate three great issues:

          One.  How to enable sentient beings to be liberated from sufferings, to repudiate samsara.

          Two.  How to enable sentient beings to attain Buddhahood with the current body, to realize the body and wisdom of Buddha.

          Three.  How to enable sentient beings to realize nirvana within the current lifetime, to attain holy realm through rainbow transformation.

          Exoteric Buddhism uses the mind training Dharma approach of enlightening the mind to see one's nature.  Pure Land, Tien-Tai, and Chan Buddhism all follow this path.  They differ only in speed of the progress, and in the Dharma method of entering the path.  The comprehension of entering Buddha's prajna is based upon the "mind of renunciation (renouncing samsara)," the "mind of mahakaruna (great compassion)," the "bodhicitta (the will to attain Buddhahood for the sake of sentient beings," and the "view of sunyata nature."

          Thereby, one can sever the "hindrance of klesa (afflictions)," and the "hindrance of knowledge," to liberate sentient beings from suffering, and to sever the cycles of births and deaths (samsara).

          However, Exoteric Buddhism cannot satisfactorily resolve the issues of how to enable sentient beings of different root capacities to attain Buddhahood with the current body, to realize the body and mind of Buddha; and how to enable the great path minded beings with Tantric root capacities to realize nirvana within the current lifetime, and to attain holy realm through rainbow transformation.  Therefore, the Great Sage Sakyamuni Buddha delivered the teachings of Tantrayana (Esoteric Buddhism).  The basic theories of Esoteric Buddhism do not differ from those of Exoteric Buddhism.  Therefore, the scriptures and teachings of Exoteric and Esoteric Buddhism do not conflict with each other.  Meanwhile, Holy ancestor Holy Vimalakirti is the "exoteric application of esoteric Dharma" ancestor of Tantrayana who deeply penetrates the eighth consciousness and who wonderfully reveals the Tathagatagarbha consciousness.  He is a Great Holy Jewel who assists the Buddha in spreading Esoteric Buddhism.

          Therefore, the linking bloodline of "exoteric application of esoteric Dharma" chuan cheng, is precisely the chuan cheng of Holy ancestor Holy Vimalakirti.
