Sir, The Buddhist ceremony to bring peace, stability, prosperity and harmony to the people and the area was terrific and should be considered as an honour. How often is it that we see two different religions come together peacefully to join in a day of celebration. If it is indeed true that Buddhists do not believe in a personal creator god who loves them, would Christ turn them away or would he ask them to stay? Would he tell them to walk behind him or beside him? I think we can be proud to of how this year's parade was organised symbolising the spirit of Christmas. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ who loves us all unconditionally. It's a time for giving, sharing and forgiveness. It's a time for coming together peacefully without racism, prejudice or bigotry. Maybe next year the church would not choose to sit back and wait for an invitation to join in and play a part in the parade. Maybe, they might practice more of what they preach, i.e. Love Thy Neighbour. Santa (Saint Nicholas) has been there every year and no one has tried to knock him off his sleigh of magic. Does he even have a religion and more? Surely it wouldn't be Christian to have magical reindeers (or kangaroos)? Maybe we should let that one slide and call it "The Annual Miracle". |
