Sir, I read with interest the opinions of those who expressed the concern at the Buddhists taking part in the Dorset Christmas Parade. Personally I don't feel the Christmas Parade represents the theme of Christ's birth and life. Each year that I have had the pleasure of being in the crowd for this parade, I have noticed one Christian community group who have faithfully represented their church, and every year I ask where are the other Christian community groups' contributions? I applaud the efforts of all who took the time and energy to represent their businesses, schools and community. I especially enjoyed Buddhists' contribution to this years' parade, as I do the St Andrews Caledonian Band every year. Carols by Candlelight is the time I especially feel the love and warmth of Christs' community in the Dorset area. So why not change the Parade's name from "Christmas" to the "Dorset Festival of Life and Love", so all cultures an peoples in our community if the North-East can feel welcomed in this small community we call Dorset.
