Dragon Dance in the Year of the Dragon

The Golden Dragon Uniting Religions

Chinese Totem

The dragon is the Chinese totem possessing inconceivable power.  The mysterious powers of the Chinese people lie within this being of the dragon.

It holds features of many different creatures of the Earth: the horn of a deer, the scales of a fish, the mouth of a lion, the claws of an eagle, the tail of a unicorn, the spines of a dinosaur, the nose hair of a leopard, the whiskers of a squid, the beard of a goat and the teeth of a tiger.

This totem of the dragon presents itself as a very complete, perfect, beautiful and powerful appearance or form before people.  It manifests a dragon spirit, a team spirit.  It displays the pride of Chinese Esoteric Buddhism.  On the 18th November 2000, we shared this pride with the people of Hobart.

The brave and heroic dragon had accomplished its first historical step, to play a role in the unity of all religions of the world.  The dragon could not speak, nor make any sound; yet, its gentle, graceful, and glorious movements had touched the heart of Hobart Christians.

Some people might wonder why Buddhists are participating in a Christmas Pageant.  In fact, all religions have the same root, as we are all striving for world peace.  Our compassionate inner hearts are all linked together, but we all have different ways in which to inspire ourselves in attaining this goal.
