Reports from the Pageant

Holy Zhi-Ji Vimalakirti Ahdharma Buddha Patriarch Master personally received and presented mementos to those guests invited to paint dot the eyes of the golden dragon.

Under the guidance of Holy Zhi-Ji Vimalakirti Ahdharma Buddha Patriarch Master, another event of the active participation of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism's World Headquarters in community activities was the sending of a team of representatives to participate in the Christmas Pageant held at the Tasmanian capital city Hobart on the Saturday of November 18th, 2000.

Those Holy Tantra Buddhists participating in this Christmas dragon dance event, in addition to practitioners from the world headquarters of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism in Tasmania, also included Holy Tantra Buddhist representatives from mainland Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Indonesia, and other regions around the world.

The dragon dance team representing Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism included the honour guards carrying the national flag of Australia and the flag of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism and International Jin-Gang-Dhyana Association, as well as four vehicles decorated with banners of notions of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism in Dharma dissemination, and a golden dragon which incessantly rolled and coiled about.

Dashing and valiant vajra youths actively participated in this silent Dharma disseminating activity with a dragon dance.

Advocation of "Solidarity of the World's Religions", "No Religious Wars", "Buddhists and Christians Celebrating Christmas Together", "World Peace, Harmony ..." and such notions were displayed on the banners carried by the decorated vehicles.

Introducing Chinese traditional culture and art to Australia, to support Australia's policy of multicultural co-existence with concrete action in the form of a dragon dance.

Before the start of the dragon dance, local dignitaries were invited to paint the eye pupil of the golden dragon.

Holy Tantra practitioners interact broadly with all levels of the society. This is modelled on the mode of Dharma dissemination adopted by Holy Tantra ancestral Master Holy Vimalakirti.

The dragon eye dotting ceremony was presided by highly regarded Elder Guru Vajra Hui Lan, with well experienced Elder Guru Vajra Yong Ming as the Master of Ceremony.

The tradition of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism has been to relinquish the monastery to merge with the society, and avoided frivolous forms and appearances.  The dragon dance or the parade, was an upaya (convenient) method for the deliverance of sentient beings, for entertaining them to disseminate the path, and for bestowing them joy and happiness.

The ceremony of painting the dragon eyes included such Chinese ancient cultural tradition as the invitation of the ink slab (the gathering of the spirit of heaven and earth) and the invitation of the brush (the expression of the deity of wisdom).

The guests actively participated, and subtly made holy connections.

When the blind dragon entered the stage, it lorded over wind and cloud, and rushed about heaven and earth.  When it finally struggled before the attending guests, it pleaded them to bestow eyes, to bestow light.

Buddhists participating in Christians' traditional cerebration, this was precisely an example of solidarity of the World's religions in practice .

The blind dragon made its plea, implying that the Chinese totem was willing to serve Australia.

Guests gave their high praise and support to the ideal of solidarity of world's religions as promoted and pursued by Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism.

Local dignitaries who paint dotted the golden dragon eyes were guests including the Deputy Lord Mayor of Hobart, the professor and scholars of the Philosophy Department of the University of Tasmania, the leader of the World Institute of Nonviolence and Reconciliation etc.

The day was clear, sunny with gentle breeze, and contrasted strongly with the rainy days of the previous weeks.  Vajra brothers and sisters felt that this was not a mere coincidence.

The dragon eye painting ceremony was announced by Chairperson Elder Guru Vajra Hui Lan to have completed in perfection. Then the pageant officially commenced with police vehicles and Tasmanian government command vehicles leading the way.

Warm and friendly Hobart citizens arranged to position the dragon dance team of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism at the lead of seventy civic organizations.

Representatives of Holy Tantra followers, practitioners, and gurus from around the world carried the flags.

The dragon dance parade team of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism used the Australian national flag and Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism flag as the honor guard.  The honor guard members were arranged in the order of the different levels of Holy Tantra Buddhists, general devotees, senior devotees, gurus, and elder gurus.

Following was a decorated vehicle of music broadcasting the dragon dance heavenly music, and performing live traditional Chinese drum and cymbal music.  Wishing sentient beings with karmic connection could appreciate the benevolence, compassion and wisdom of Ahdharma Buddha.

The dragon dance heavenly music was personally collated and decided by Elder Guru Vajra Nymphoea Rubra.

The dragon dance heavenly music started with the breaking sound of ocean waves, the torrential sound of waterfall, and the rolling sound of spring thunders.  These were sounds loved by and familiar to Tasmanians.  They originated from the natural scenery of Tasmania, and reappeared through music.  Simultaneously, the music demonstrated the powerful and gallant appearance of the golden dragon.  Elder Guru Vajra Nymphoea Rubra, with her profound accomplishment in music, crafted the music with skill and originality.

"Peace, Harmony and Prosperity" was one of the slogans of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism in Dharma dissemination.

The second decorated vehicle carried joyous, angelic and spirited young vajra children.  They also eagerly and repeatedly waved back at the spectators, for people to get a glimpse at the next generation successors of the great family of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism.

The putting into practice the dragon personality, rightly represents the vitality of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism in its survival through all hardships and development for over a thousand years.

In the middle of the four vehicles was the rolling and tuck diving golden dragon.

The vajra holder for the dragon pearl was the senior guru with nearly thirty years of ordained sanghahood, Senior Guru Vajra Long Sheng.  With profound inner strength of Jin-Gang Dharani Holy Tantra dhyana, he guided with experience and ease the holy dragon in its rolling flight.

Holy Tantra practitioners disseminated Dharma according to the circumstances.  Under the guidance of Holy Zhi-Ji Vimalakirti Ahdharma Buddha Patriarch Master, they extensively made good connection with sentient beings.

On that day, there were over fifty thousand spectators lining the streets.  To the major cities of the world, fifty thousand people are rather insignificant.  However, to the miniature city of Hobart, it was as if the whole town turned out.  Many of them were angelic and carefree children, who waved excitedly at the Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhist parade members, greeting, "Dragon! How are you!"  Some of the children really wished to be able to touch and feel the dragon.

According to the doctrine of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism, a revolution of the dragon pearl is equivalent to countless recitations of mantra.  The rolling flight of the golden dragon mobilizes heaven and earth.  The dance of the holy dragon carrys infinite merits.

Throughout the entire pageant, the golden dragon tuck dived high and low, and spun around in flying dance.  The non-stop dancing about of the golden dragon was demonstrating the boundless great power of Buddha on which Holy Tantra practitioners rely.

It silently disseminated the peace and harmony of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism, as well as its doctrine of bringing happiness and eternal life to people.

What a worthwhile trip.  Thanks to Holy Zhi-Ji Vimalakirti Ahdharma Buddha Patriarch Master.

The pageant team of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism included local Buddhists.  They also happily and excitedly wore the clothing and hats bearing the insignia of Holy Tantra dragon dance.  They were all eager and high spirited for participating in the dragon dance and the parade; and they all thanked Holy Zhi-Ji Vimalakirti Ahdharma Buddha Patriarch Master for His benevolent and compassionate arrangement, providing them the opportunity to participate in this Dharma dissemination event of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism.
